As I mentioned in the previous post, I neglected to renew my domain name and so down went this site for a little while. Sorry about that.

Thought I would get things cookin’ again with a little Phish remix of some of their songs from the recent fall tour. I got a little bit from a whole lot of shows including Halloween in Atlantic City.

The band has definitely tightened things up a bit, but they still know how to set sail and get lost in the jam. The New Years run should be quite epic and if I were able to make it to just one of the shows, I would pick the first night at Worcester. I think this show is going to absolutely rock.

If you just stumbled upon this site in your Internet travels, welcome. If you come back every couple weeks, you will be able to listen to a new podcast featuring a cool band from New England, or a set of music I throw together. Rock and roll hipsters, Restless Groove, out of Orono, Maine have packed the cooler, filled up the tank and are about to hit the jam band highway. The direction this band heads in is unclear, but they have a self-designed map that is going to take them across the lands of America making folks stomp their feet, holler into space and groove spaciously along the way.

Stand in the audience at one of their shows and you will quickly realize that these guys are destined for bigger things outside of the beautiful state of Maine. For now though, they are central Maine’s little hidden secret.

They say that when you die, your soul sometimes sticks around. It haunts the very earth it once lived. Invisible, but wanting to be heard, a soul wanders and roams looking for what it never found.

But, you also have souls that are perfectly at home right now, in this world and in this time. They are the souls that are not waiting.

The Toughcats, a three-piece rock and roll outfit from the Fox Islands in Penobscot Bay, Maine have found their voice in this time and in this era we call the 21’st century.

Forget the fancy rock and roll gizmos. Leave em’ at the door. Pedals, shmedals. Synthesizer, lamenizer. The Toughcats scoop up a sweet, rootsy, backyard barefootin’ lazy ol’ summertime barrel of goodness that’s gonna make the old timers say…shit, that music still in style.

The Toughcats call Maine home, but they leave all the time to get their sound out to there. With just a drummer and a couple string players, the Toughcats create a rich sound that screams punk rock, but sails alternative country.

When you play intimately with cats like Kathy Mattea, Hot Buttered Rum, Deerhoof and Sam Bush; you must be doing something right. The Toughcats are onto something good and groovy.
